Visitors like Marty highlight the warm hospitality, even expressing gratitude for the owners keeping the pub open for late arrivals. The homemade dishes, ranging from hearty classics to unique vegetarian options, consistently draw praise for their generous portions and competitive pricing. Lovely pub and food. We called ahead to see if we needed to book. The chap said they would wait which I thought was peculiar but once we go there, we were told that they were going to close as they had no customers. I’m so glad they did. We had a great lunch and a couple of drinks after walking a few miles to get there. So grateful to the owners for staying open for us. Just a shame that’s how it is now. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Solid service, great lunch and the place is an idyllic village pub. Will be back soon

Friendly local pub, nice and cosy. They had a weekly local game night going in which was interesting as well. Dog friendly and homely food and service.

This is one of my favourite pubs. I've been going there for years. The food is delicious. It's a fairly traditional British menu plus some interesting vegetarian dishes, but it's always very tasty, the portions are generous and the prices competitive. I also love the feel of the place. It an ancient pub with wooden beams and interesting things to look at, and a log fire in winter, and a tranquil atmosphere.

Couldn’t be more different to its noisier neighbour pub. Don’t get me wrong, I liked them both but the Wheatsheaf had a bit more quirky character, quiet with old fashioned furnishings but excellent service and a tasty veggie tagine (the only plant based offering) with chunky chips washed down with some lovely Hook Norton bitter for 20. No mobile service but well worth a visit.

The food was very good, it was hot and came in good time. Lovely little pub with a beer garden for good weather. There are plenty of choices on the menu. A nice place to meet up, we arrived a little early, but we were invited in to sit and wait for our friends.

The perfect, cosy pub atmosphere with a vast menu to choose from. Typical pub meals on offer - fish and chips, steak and always pie or bangers and mash, but also lots of other things to choose from, including starters, vegetarian options, and desserts. Carmel and Bill are friendly and relaxed. Rotating menu of ales on tap, as well as spirits, wine, aperitifs, and digestifs! Keep an eye out for games nights and quiz nights, attracting lots of lovely locals as well. A real gem in the middle of the beautiful village of East Hendred. Book if you can, so they know you're coming ;)

Just visited for the first time and it will not be the last, food was so fresh and obviously home-made, after having a starter neither me nor hubby could finish our mains. Great service, exceptional food and reasonable prices.
